Question:

There will be an eclipse this coming Friday. Will we be able to see it in the UK?

I have looked at a couple of web sites which say that Europe will be able to see the eclipse but from the maps I cannot see that the UK is included - does anyone know if we are too far from the event. Also, if it can be seen in the UK any idea about what time the event will happen?

Thank you in advance for your help.

  1. You'll see partial eclipse, with the maximum eclipsing at around 9am. If the sun is visible, that is.

If you want to see a total eclipse, your best bet is to contact the Royal Observatory at Greenwich and they will be able to advise you where best to go in order to see the next eclipse.  It will usually mean foreign travel but if this falls during a holiday period, why not take that as part of your holiday?
