  1. ESPN Asia/Star Sports is based in Singapore, so you can ask them why they stopped showing NFL games in the region. as for Solar Sports, they're a local cable channel and they do realize that there's still a market for the NFL (especially American expats or Filipinos who grew up in the States), but don't expect to have a Sunday Ticket-like coverage in the Philippines.

we like basketball, sports entertainment (WWE), and Formula 1 Racing... and the only sports PPV's we have here are Manny Pacquiao's fights. unless someone here played Madden videogames or grew up watching The Little Giants, your average Pinoy televiewer won't get American Football. the same goes for NASCAR.

  2. soccer is more popular in the philippines that football (the kind NFL plays) so that's the reason ESPN pulled out from that market. there's little or no profit.

  3. I doubt there's a market for NFL there.  Even parts of the U.S. cannot support an NFL.  Plus Filipinos (most) would rather watch basketball.

  4. Its not popular here, same for football or soccer. Yes there are fans, but not a whole lot for Solar to invest and buy into NFL eps. The Philippines is more into basketball, cockfighting and boxing.

Whoever wants to proliferate the American football here should start media campaigns on the rules of the game. It looks complicated and not as easily gratifying like basketball.
