Alright. So we have a big pool and everynight bats fly by and drink from the pool. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't attack us while doing so.

It's become a huge problem. We can't swim half the day because of it. We want them GONE. We've tried lights, They just come anyways. We've tried noise, They still come!

What should I do to keep the bats from coming to my pool?

  1. I would call a specialist because it seems to me nothing you have tried has worked. Where do you live in romania!?

  2. Bats don't bother me at all. I have a few that live on my porch.

It is a myth that bats attack people and they don't get tangled in your hair.

To get rid of them you would either have to start shooting them or find out where they roost during the day and kill them.

Have you considered screening in your pool area?

  3. They really are not attacking.  Its likely they want to smell you and so fly really close.  I aways enjoyed them flying into my hair (I no longer have that capability).  1.  have you tried offering water elsewhere, a birdbath might do the trick.  2.  It may be the insects that are attracted to the water or the lights that bring on the bats, turn out all the lights and see if you have the same problem.  Bats flying close to the water may be catching insects close to the water.  I bet you are not bothered by insects at your pool parties.

  4. In what way do bats attack people?  I've never heard of that.  They will bite in defense if you try to handle them, but then how would you get that close?

I'm sure you know how beneficial bats are in eating troublesome insects, including mosquitoes.

Are they in your house or other buildings on your property?  They can be excluded, but usually you can't do that until the breeding season is over.  If your pool is the best water source around, though, they will still come to drink, wherever they live.

Have fun with them.  Throw rocks at them.  [I say this only because there is no way you can hit one.  It will notice the rock coming.  In the unlikely event that the bat might be in the way of the rock, it will dodge.  Otherwise, it will wonder what thing is flying in the air and come over to look at it.  "Ha!" the human will say, "I almost hit it!"]

  5. Your best course of action would be to contact The Bat Conservation Trust, who can offer help and advice
