I live in the UK and theres these little brown frogs in my garden.. only about the size of my thumb nail.

i have a little wall in my garden and the frogs seem to climb up the wall, dry out, and then get stuck to the wall.

What should i do, they cant physically move and i can just leave them there to die.

If i got them off the wall i wouldnt keep them or anything, i'd just let them go again. please help.

  1. if the wall is made out of stone you should gently puor some warm water onto the frogs and then pour a little bit of cold water on them. they will eventually hydrate and will come of the wall. if your not scared to hold these little frogs ick them up and put them in a container or anything that you can hold them in (but make sure that you put holes, small holes so that they can breathe) and then take them to a damp area like a swamp or a lake or anything that has water near by so they dont dehydrate again.

    good luck!! =]

  2. The odds are against you being able to save them at this point but that doesn't mean you can't try to re-hydrate them with some water. Remember though that many species of frog cannot swim. Be careful not to drown them.

They were recently tadpoles and if there are ten of them in the same place it is absolutely certain that their pond is within 300 meters. Ask around your neighborhood and you will find someone with a pond or possibly a man made pool. Maybe a neighbor has a large garden or pool for fish? If you return them to that area they will be able to find food as it was chosen by the mother frog for that reason.

Kudos to you for doing the right thing. I hope you are in time to rescue them.

Edit: I see. Well, I guess you have two choices. Re-locate the breeding pair or be on hand to perform occasional rescues. It would be interesting to see photos if you have them.

  3. Slowly pour water on them.

  4. get them wet (gently pour some water on them or gently hose them down or use a garden spray bottle) they should drop off the wall once there re hydrated. then take them to a local pond stream brook d**e gully etc and just leave them near by. either that or some damp woodlands.

dont use oil it will only harm the frogs

  5. hmm you didn't say what this wall is made of, but you can try cooking spray oil on the wall in hopes that no more frogs get stuck.. and maybe it will unstick the ones there already.. good luck on that ..
