Theresa Michalak dominates Women’s 50m breast-stroke meet - 7th Open Luxembourg Nationals
Theresa Michalak of SV Halle dominated the final of Women’s 50m breast-stroke event to win the gold medal on the second day of the 7th Open Luxembourg Nationals. The Luxembourg meet is a Long Course National Championship, which will conclude after the completion
of its second day events.
The 18-year-old Michalak captured the gold medal of the 50m breast-stroke in a meet record time, as she touched the finishing wall in a superb time of 32.80 seconds. Her extraordinary effort crushed the former record holder with a considerable distance of
0.73 seconds. The previous meet record was hold by Anastasia Christoforou, who posted a time of 33.53 seconds in 2008.
The gold medallist was followed by Sibylle Dalacker of SV Nikar Heidelberg, who stayed only 0.13 seconds behind the champion and finished her fastest lap swim with a timing of 32.93 seconds for the silver medal. Weronika Paluszek of Wks Slask Wroclaw stayed
only 0.75 seconds behind Dalacker and followed her on the podium for the bronze medal, by touching the finishing wall with a remarkable effort of 33.68 seconds.
Moments later, Andrea Baudry of Selection Languedoc Roussillon appeared on the finishing wall and occupied the fourth best position. Baudry stayed 0.71 seconds behind the bronze medallist, Paluszek and posted a time of 34.39 seconds. She was followed by
Paulina Szydlo of Wks Slask Wroclaw, who finished her swim in a fifth fastest timing of 35.18 seconds.
In the meantime, Mina Sohrabi-Zadeh of Swimming Luxembourg seized the sixth best spot of the swim, as she finished her race with a timing of 36.34 seconds. She was 0.81 seconds faster than her team-member and subsequent swimmer, Sabrina Bravaccini, who settled
on the concluding wall for the seventh fastest spot, by submitting a time of 37.15 seconds.
The last spot of the race was secured by Anais Serbruyns of Squalus Nautic Club Gilly, who ended her swim in a time of 37.39 seconds. Furthermore, Michalak expressed happiness over her victory, while the arena acknowledged the gruelling efforts of all participants.
