Theresa Michalak wins three gold medals at the Luxembourg
Long Course Nationals – Swimming news
Theresa Michalak stunned the crowd in Luxembourg with her wonderful performance as she clinched three gold medals at the Luxembourg Long Course Nationals on July 10, 2011.
Michalak secured three gold medals in the event, as she nabbed the Women’s 50m breast-stroke crown, 200m Individual Medley and the 50m butterfly meet.
Initially, Theresa took home the Women’s 50m breast-stroke title with a winning time of 32.87 seconds, whereas, Sibylle Dalacker earned the silver medal in 32.95 seconds.
She then snatched the Women’s 200m IM crown with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 16.39 seconds. Most importantly, Michalak beat Beatrix Eisel’s previous record of 2 minutes and 22.81 seconds, set back in 2008. That performance also moved her to top spot
in the world rankings. Michalak then snared the Women’s 50m butterfly title with a record time of 27.37 seconds.
After the corresponding events, Theresa was happy with her individual performance in the championship.
In another meet, Jean-Francois Schneiders won the Men’s 200m back-stroke crown with a victorious time of 2 minutes and 06.13 seconds, whereas, Schneiders grabbed his second title in the 50m back-stroke with a winning time of 27.08 seconds. Moreover, he snatched
his third title in the 100m back-stroke in 58.80 seconds.
Additionally, Maja Zawiszewska claimed the Women’s 100m back-stroke in 1 minute and 05.17 seconds, while Zawiszewska nabbed the 200m back-stroke with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 21.88 seconds. She snagged her third title in the 50m back-stroke with
a time of 30.11 seconds.
In the meantime, Sandra Koch took home the Women’s 100m freestyle crown with a victorious time of 57.09 seconds and Koch snatched her second title in the 200m freestyle with a time of 2 minutes and 03.40 seconds.
In the Women’s 400m freestyle meet, Sarah Koehler snared the gold medal with a winning time of 4 minutes and 21.22 seconds, while Koehler also grabbed her second title in the 800m freestyle with a winning time of 9 minutes and 01.24 seconds.
Moreover, Toni Embacher clinched the Men’s 100m butterfly in 54.68 seconds, while Embacher earned his second title in the 200m butterfly with a time of 2 minutes and 02.73 seconds. Julien Goyetche won the Men’s 50m freestyle crown in 23.90 seconds, whereas,
Goyetche secured his second title in the 100m freestyle with a time of 51.87 seconds.
Finally, Maciej Zoniuk secured the gold medal in the Men’s 1500m freestyle with a sterling time of 16 minutes and 20.72 seconds, whereas, Zoniuk clinched his second title in the 400m freestyle meet in 4 minutes and 03.11 seconds.
