Therese Alshammar conquers Women’s 100m butterfly crown: 2011 FINA World Cup, Singapore
Olympic medallist, Therese Alshammar of Sweden rose to expectations of her followers at the seven stop 2011 FINA World Cup series in Singapore, on Friday, November 4. Alshammar went on to clinch the Women’s 100m butterfly title, while Jeremy Stravius of
France claimed Men’s 100m back-stroke crown.  
Alshammar beat Olympic medallist, Liu Yang Jiao of China and Li Tao of Singapore by claiming the finishing barrier in a fastest time of 56.03 seconds to win the Women’s 100m butterfly title over her rivals. Jiao went on to claim silver title in a mark of
56.89 seconds, while Tao picked bronze medal in a blot of 57.02 seconds. Additionally, Jessicah Schipper of Australia earned fourth spot in a time of 57.65 seconds and Martina Granstroem of Sweden settled fifth with a spot of 58.77 seconds.
In the meantime, Jasmine Tosky of United States of America earned sixth place honours by hitting the finishing mark in a time of 58.81 seconds and Tomoyo Fukuda of Japan was settled at seventh place in 59.14 seconds. Finally, Lisbeth Trickett of Australia
earned eighth position in a time of 59.30 seconds.
The Men’s 100m back-stroke title was pocketed by Jeremy Stravius of France in a record breaking mark of 51.80 seconds. Benjamin Stasiulis of France earned silver title in a spot of 51.94 seconds, while Ryan Pini claimed bronze medal in a time of 52.13 seconds.
Masafumi Yamaguchi of Japan picked fourth spot by claiming the finishing barrier in a time of 52.65 seconds, while JanPhilip Glania of Germany earned fifth position in a mark of 52.93 seconds. Kazuki Watanabe of Japan picked sixth position by thrashing the
finishing blocks in a time of 53.07 seconds, whereas, Nelson Silva Junior of Brazil got seventh position by hitting the finishing fence in a mark of 54.25 seconds.
Last, but not the least, the eighth position was grabbed by NG Kai Wee Rainer in a spot of 54.99 seconds. The next round of the World Series is scheduled to take place in Beijing, China, from November 8-9.
