Therese Alshammar conquers Women’s 50m butterfly title: 2011 FINA World Cup Series, Tokyo
Olympic medallist, Therese Alshammar of Sweden impressed the arena with her performance in the pool against her rivals on the penultimate evening of the 2011 FINA World Cup Series, in Japan, on Sunday, November 13. Alshammar earned Women’s 50m butterfly
title for her nation.
More importantly, Therese Alshammar smashed her rivals including Yuka Kato of Japan and Rino Hosoda of Japan by claiming the finishing cordon in a record thrashing mark of 25.35 seconds to win the Women’s 50m butterfly title. Tokyo really enjoyed the splash
of the Swedish swimmer in the penultimate session. Recently, Alshammar claimed a gold title in 50m freestyle at the 2011 World Championships, in Shanghai.
After the race, Kato settled for silver title in a winning blot of 25.52 seconds, while Hosoda earned bronze medal in a spot of 26.40 seconds, respectively. Despite the scintillating performance of Swedish swimmer, Ayako Asano of Japan also impressed the
arena due to her versatile turns in the pool and claimed fourth position in the respective race by banging the finishing barrier in a time of 26.87 seconds.
Moreover, the swims of two more Japanese athletes involving Miho Teramura and Kaho Nagai were not neglectful, as both Teramura and Nagai earned fifth place honours by thrashing the finishing blockade in a matching blot of 27.05 seconds, correspondingly.
Furthermore, Masako Kuroki of Japan gave the best try in the pool and settled at seventh place in a mark of 27.11 seconds.
Last, but definitely not the least, Japan’s Chika Dobashi claimed eighth spot by clicking the finishing fence in an impressive mark of 27.16 seconds. The versatile swimming turns helped toppers including Sweden’s Therese Alshammar and Japan’s Yuka Kato and
Rino Hosoda in achieving their gold, silver and bronze titles along with cash prizes after the close of the session, respectively.
The seventh stop of the event saw several thrilling performances of the world’s best athletes in the arena of competitive swimming including Chad Le Clos, Therese Alshammar and other Japanese swimmers. More importantly, this World Series provided excellent
opportunities to all the athletes to prepare better for their next year’s Olympic trials.
