Therese Alshammar impresses at the UAE International Swimming Championships
The UAE International Swimming Championships ended on high note with the blistering performance of Swedish swimmer, Therese Alshammar, as she took home the Women’s 50m freestyle crown with a sterling time of 25.09 seconds. On the other hand, she clinched
the Women’s 100m butterfly title after she touched finishing blockade in the respective meet with a fascinating time of 59.06 seconds.
Due to her sensational performances in the 50m and 100m freestyle meets last week, Alshammar has successfully qualified for the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai. The meet is an important event for all swimmers to prepare themselves before the crucial
2012 Olympics Games.
In the Men’s 100m butterfly event, Jason Dunford clinched the gold medal with a matchless time of 52.65 seconds, while Chad le Clos of South Africa wound up second in 53.41 seconds. Milorad Cavic finished third in the respective meet with a time of 53.52
seconds.
On the other side, Chad Le Clos won the Men’s 200m butterfly event with a fabulous time of 1:59.1 minutes. Previously, he also clinched the Men’s 200m freestyle title after he touched the finishing wall and ended his swim with an intriguing time of 1:51.76
minutes.
In the 200m freestyle, it was the performance of Serbian National’s Velimir Stjepanovic that captured the attention of the crowd. The Serbian took the golden crown in the following meet with a sterling time of 1:52.4 minutes. Meanwhile, Stjepanovic also
grabbed the 200m butterfly title with a remarkable time of 2:02.2 minutes. In the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly, Stjepanovic was placed second and third, respectively.
On the other hand, Cesar Cielo took home the golden crown in the Men’s 100m butterfly event with an incredible time of 53.07 seconds.
Another remarkable performance was seen at the 2011 FINA/MIDEA Diving World Series as Qiu Bo of China took home the golden crown in the 10m platform with a stunning score of 582.45 points. Thomas Daly captured the second place with 562.80 points and Rommel
Pacheco wound up third with 540.90 points in the following meet.
