Therese Alshammar wins Women’s 50m butterfly gold: Day two – 2012 Paris Open
Therese Alshammar of Sweden won gold medal of the Women’s 50m butterfly on second day of the 2012 Paris Open Swimming Championships on Saturday, July 7.
The Swedish swimmer demonstrated her stupendous efforts in the single lap butterfly event and made her way to the finishing blockade for gold medal.
Her alluring efforts remained marginally ahead of her closest swimmer as she tapped the wall with the timing of 25.66 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was followed by Inge Dekker of Netherlands, who stayed 0.22 seconds apart and hit the finishing end with an effort of 25.88 seconds for silver medal.
The second position holder was chased by Anna Dowgiert of Poland, who stayed 0.54 seconds apart and occupied bronze medal of the event by clocking a time of 26.42 seconds.
Similarly, the bronze medallist was chased by Silvia Di Pietro of Italy, who remained just 0.14 seconds slower from overpowering her foregoing finisher and settled on the finishing end as fourth position holder with an effort of 26.56 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was secured by Melanie Henique of France, who completed her race in a time of 26.83 seconds.
Next was the 50m breaststroke in Women’s category, where Caroline Ruhnau of Germany smothered efforts of her competitors by capturing gold medal of the event with the timing of 31.52 seconds.
The gold medallist was trailed by her teammate, Sarah Poewe, who stayed 0.16 seconds slower and secured second position with the timing of 31.68 seconds.
Poewe was trailed by f***y Babou of France, who stayed almost half body length behind and touched the wall with an effort of 32.34 seconds for bronze medal.
The third position holder remained 0.21 seconds faster from Anouk Elzerman of Netherlands and Sibylle Dalacker of Germany, who reached the finishing end for fourth position by producing a similar timing of 32.55 seconds.
The duo was chased by Sara El Bekri of Morocco, who ended her swim in sixth best place with an effort of 32.77 seconds.
Alshammar was delighted with her performance and said that she will try to flourish at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
