New Zealand Cricket, on Tuesday appointed Therese Walsh to lead New Zealand operations for the 2015 Cricket World Cup, to be jointly hosted by New Zealand and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
Therese Walsh, who has been a director of NZC since 2011, was a key figure in New Zealand’s 2011 Rugby World Cup, where he worked as the chief operating officer for the esteemed tournament. Impressed by Walsh’s successful organization
of the 2011 RWC, New Zealand Cricket showed faith in her by appointing her as the “Head of New Zealand” for the Cricket World Cup 2015.
The 2015 World Cup Chief executive, John Harnden, said that he was delighted to have services of Walsh and hoped she will play a key role in helping the governing body organise a fan-friendly event, reaching the maximum number of
communities across both the countries.
"Therese will play a leading role across the whole tournament but pay special attention to delivery in New Zealand," said the World Cup CEO John Harnden after NZC named Walsh as the Head of New Zealand operations.
“Therese brings great experience in sport and major events to the role and has invaluable insights from what has been recognised as the best Rugby World Cup ever," he added further.
Before taking over as Chief Operating Officer for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, Walsh had served the New Zealand Rugby Union in the capacity of chief financial officer and general manager corporate services.
Speaking to media reporters, Walsh said that leading up to the tournament she was looking forward to work with both New Zealand and Australian authorities.
"This was a perfect chance to be a part of another global sporting event that is going to have a direct and positive impact not only on cricket in New Zealand but on communities, businesses and individuals," said Ms Walsh.
She further added that as Head of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 for the World Cup, she will focus on creating a memorable event across both countries, which will be remembered for years to come.
The 11th edition of ODI cricket world cup will be held in February-march in 2015.
