Question:

Thermal Paste and CPU (Computer problems)?

I've been having computer problems from day one, such as..

1. When I press the power button, everything powers up, but I get no image on screen. (My power supply, graphics card, and RAM have been checked and all work.) I had thought it was my power supply but I replaced it with one even more powerful and it's still giving me the error.

2. My computer would freeze after booting up sometimes, and has even been known to freeze while in the BIOS.

3. I had been getting many many errors in my error log, errors for almost everything in my computer. Memory errors, graphics errors, and motherboard errors.

I think that when I put the waterblock down on the processor, there was already a different kind of thermal paste down on the processor that I hadn't scraped off all the way and could have already been solidified by the heat. Any suggestions about if insufficient thermal paste or a confliction could cause these problems please let me know.

  1. sounds like motherboard problem..

thermal paste should be giving you that many problems

take everything off and try to boot with bare minimum one HDD, no optical drive one ram car, no video card ( unless needed)

    etc
