  1. go on the internet and look up Iceland heating.   They have been heating via thermal for 100's of years.     That will give you the info you want

  2. thermal or solar??

how about steam power..can't have it without heat.....

solar is the suns rays to heat to power

the very statement..thermal energy...is a trick lable.....can not have heat without the transference of 'energy' from one particle to another...one atom to another ..one cell to another.....

  3. exothermic chemical reaction

the heat energy released comes from the chemical bonds of the reagents.  This is what happens in combustion.

  4. Heat and also cold which -less- heat or the absence of Heat, but still heat. Nothing can have no energy. Thermal energy can be anything from  your body to magma from the Earth's core. Thermal Energy means energy that is from a system, like the earth or your human body. Though on a side note, one system or body of heat cannot possess heat. This is the second law of Thermodynamics.

What that means is that you cannot keep your own heat, which is true, therefore you will constantly produce heat but it will always escape and be passed on to other molecules like the atmosphere or an object you are holding. In the Earth's case, it cannot possess, or withhold energy that is why the Earth's magma cools down when it erupts from a volcano and becomes lava.
