hello frns....

i'm doing a project for which i need a thermistor which is highly sensitive..that is should detet even the minor changes in the temperature.so what do u thnk is the best for this..i have conducted the xperiment once using a general RT thermistor(the one which luks like a capicitor but a black one, which is easily available in the market)'but with that only greater temperature changes are been detected ( wherin i used an incandascent lamp)..n one more point is that...the thermistor that i have used is taking less time to detect hot bodies but taking quite a lot of time to detect colder bodies....so plz help me out in suggesting a best thermistor so that i can continue with my project...

  1. Its the detection circuit that needs to be sensitive. Its unlikely you can use the sensor without some controller. The thermistor you have is probably fine although I would tend to recommend PT100's. They are inexpensive, fairly accurate and reliable.

There are a number of commercial products you can use to control something from the PT100. Check out http://www.omega.com/

  2. opamps and comparators can do a lot to improve sensitivity.

It sounds like you have a problem with the thermal mass of the thermistor.  You should switch to one with a lower value.
