Question:

Thermos part of coffee machine explodes. Is this normal?

We paid 1000 kroner ($200) for a Siemens coffee machine with thermos. (Can't find anything decent here in Denmark without spending a fortune!) After emptying the coffee from the thermos, I was rinsing the thermos under hot water when it exploded into a million pieces. I'm still finding pieces of it everywhere, rather disconcerting when you have a one year old crawling around. The coffee machine is only about 6 months old. When we called the company, they said they would send a replacement for the thermos part only (the one they sent looks like the wrong one) and they billed us about $40 saying the warranty didn't cover that part. I can't even rinse out all of the glass from the thermos part! Is this normal for a thermos to explode and then for Siemens to charge us for a defective part? No where in the instructions does it tell us not to rinse with hot water. It has never been dropped or anything else that might damage it.

  1. I would say that the company is trying to pull the wool over your eyes.  Unless the warranty states that the glass is not covered then get a hold of their customer service and complain
