Question:

Thermostat Help! How do I connect the wires? Trane/Hunter?

Trying to figure out the correct way to fully wire a Hunter Model 44155C. Originally had a Trane thermostat (not sure of model or number).

I'm confused. Is it necessary to connect some wires or all wires to the thermostat. Like if I have both "G" and "F" do I connect just "G" or would I connect both.

Also it already has a small wire connecting RH to RC.

So I don't need to connect the "R" (red) wire?

"If your thermostat has one wire marked R or RH, then leave the jumper wire between RH and RC on the wallplate." Otherwise seperate RH and RC wires (5 wire system).

Trane wiring (Color Coded):

X2 = Black

O= Orange

G = Green

Y = Yellow

T = Greyish/Black

W = White

R = Red

B = Blue

U - Not used

F - Not used

--------------------------------------...

Hunter Wiring (according to manual):

RH, R, 24 Volt

RC, VC 24 Volt Cool

G or F Fan

--------------------------------------...

Y,C, or M Air conditioning compressor

or

O Reversing Valve operating in Cool Mode

--------------------------------------...

W or H Heating

Or

R Reversing Valve operating in Heat Mode

--------------------------------------...

Y1 Heat Pump Compressor

Thanks for the help. May post more info.

  1. Trane uses W for your auxilliary heat ,x2 for emergency heat,B for neutral,R for hot,G for fan,F is just a malfunction light and might not be used on your new stat,Y for the compressor, and O for the reversing valve, energized in the cool mode,T I'm not sure but probably not used like F.Make certain you bought the correct stat.Good luck

  2. x2 is common you already found that out the hard way that hunter model does not have a delay for the fan in h/p mode why are you changing t stat if its not keeping up its your system not the control
