Theroetically speaking, would this work?

Say I got red highlights...

I wash my hair in freezing cold water

I stay out of the sun

I use plenty of product on my hair when I straighten it

And I only straighten it once a week, maybe

I use a cool setting on my hairdryer too

How long would the red highlights last before fading to an orange-y color? I had red highlights before, but I didn't exactly take care of them. They lasted vibrant for about a week.

  1. i think just get like a color care shampoo & conditioner and some kind of color protecting styling product eventually it will fade but that should help (i have faded purple and aqua but i like it  like that lol) good luck!

  2. that will help it last for a few more weeks. also make sure you use a color care shampoo.

FYI there is something called a color enhancing shampoo which actually has pigment in it.. its like adding a boost of color everytime you wash.  as long as your other hair is darker than the red, this would be great for you! just buy it in a shade of red  (if you have light hair the shampoo will stain the rest of you hair red!)

  3. it probably would, but i buy a good hair shampoo and conditioner that protects and moisturises my hair when i get my red highlights.the key is moisturising your hair and keeping it moisturised.the stylist will recommend the hair shampoos that work best with their colours,it may seem like a sales pitch, but my colour has always lasted with their recommendations for shampoos and conditioners

    hope it this helps
