These days, do men expect their wife to work, or do they want them to stay home?

It entirely depends on the man. My husband won't actually say what he wants me to do. He wants me home for the kids so he can work long hours restoring homes, but he doesn't want to be the sole provider. We had it worked out so I could work about 1/2 time from home, but that company went out of business and failed to pay me all summer, so now that our youngest is going to kindergarten, I am going back to work full time.

I don't see why a mother cannot work days when her kids are in school and even if they have a daycare or something a couple of hours after school. Since my kindergartener's older siblings are teenagers they will just come home on the bus after school.

I think it is up to the couple.  We needed to work out our marriage and we both decided we could afford for me to take time off to take care of home repairs.I am a woman and know about repairing things more than my husband.  He is an attorney with a busy practice.  To hire someone doing the work I do at home would cost almost what I make!  I am remodeling our kitchen and bathrooms.  He knows about the law and I know my way around Home Depot.  when the work is finished I am looking forward to going back to work again.  Everyone here will have a different opinion.  No one wants a woman staying home stuffing the mouth with bon bons watching soaps and men have been guilty of staying home drinking beer too.

I think it depends on the man.  Some would want the extra help in saving for the future.  Others feel their wife needs to keep up the home front and children.

It often depends on the man. I want my wife to work. BUT, I have a friend who wants a submissive wife, who will stay home, cook , clean and home school the child. And s*x whenever he wants it. So yea.....

it would be nice if a guy could support his wife and family, but its not that realistic these days...

I don't expect my wife to work, if she wants to go outside the house and work that is up to her. But for me I like it that she is home.

I think it has a lot to do with how the man was raised. Some are raised that the man takes care of the family and it hurt their pride when the woman has to work for income which happens al ot now days. And on the other hand someone who was raised in a two income family would probably expect a woman to work
