I am Russian, so I want a Russian name for my daughter.

I have these in mind:

Natalya (Natasha),

Anastasia (Anya),

Masha

I know Anya is not typicaly a nickname for Anastasia, but my Grandma's name was Anastasia, but I like the nickname Anya.

I don't know why, but I really had my heart set on the name Masha. Most people told me they don't like it, but it was one of my childhood friends names. She was adopted form Russia when she was 12.

I likes:

Masha Svetlana

Masha Kristina

Masha Venera

Masha Viktoria

Masha Julia

  1. Natalya is really pretty.

Anastasia is reminds me of the disney princess, very russian but also very nice. I also like that it was your Grandma's name, & yes Anya is a cute nick name.

Masha- hmmmm? Well personally I'm not crazy about it [hey it's probably the American in me talking though], seeing as though it's not a common name here and I don't know much about Russian heritage and names it sounds strange to me and I don't really like it. I don't know how other people would do with it over there in Russia though. I do like that you are honoring your friend though. How about a compromise,

I really like Anastasia (Anya) Masha.

That way you are honoring your grandma, you have a cute, original nick name to call her and you are honoring her with your friends [different] name, but it's a middle name so she won't always be called that.

    Good luck!

  2. hi there, if i had to pick out of the list i really like Natalya. But a beautifull russian name i no is ekaterina.

    goodluck

  3. Masha does not travel very well neither does Venera. Anya and Natasha, or nickname of Tash are beautiful

  4. masha kristina is nice, and i like natalya and anya

  5. i think it should be Natalya Grace the rest are wierd, sorry just being honest.

    but very pretty Natalya Grace!

  6. Anastasia ( Anya )

    nice name

  7. I love Natalya and Anastasia. They're such pretty names and I just love the nickname Anya (I would consider it when my time comes)

However I'm not too fond of Masha. It's cute for a baby, but I just can't imagine an adult with that name. And it sort of reminds me of mashed potato.

  8. Svetlana Masha...Lana for short

    Natalia Masha

  9. Priv-yet!

I don't like Masha either..sorry. I like Pasha for a boy (Pavel/ Paul). I love the other two that you have though!

  10. I love the Anastasia/Anya gig, it's such a pretty abstract name. Beneath that, i like Masha Julia or Viktoria.

  11. I like Natalya better than Natasha. Anastasia is ok, I don't like Anya. I don't like Masha.

    Here is some other ideas

    Ramiana

    Adrianna

    Yulia

    Vanessa

    Alina

    Raisa

    Viktoriya

  12. i like all of the names... i know someone with the name anya.

i like Masha Svetlana, or Masha Anastasia

  13. I like Masha Viktoria.

  14. I love Anya, I am in the process of getting pregnant and if we have a girl that is my number one name, or spelled Ania. Natalya is also very nice, but to be honest I am not huge on Masha, but hey its your baby and you pick whatever you want, they are all pretty! but Venera I think you should completely toss, it sounds like a disease lol, sorry but the others are nice.  Good luck!

  15. Anya is beautiful [:

another Russian name I love is Dasha (DAR-sha)

  16. Um how about dayanara and since you like masha it could be dayanara masha!!! Aww how sweet that sounds so nice!! All of them r good too but yeah think about this one!! So good luck on picking!!

  17. mykela svetlana

  18. Hi, well my cousins' mum is also Russian and my cousins' names are Anna, Maria and David...I know Masha is the Russian version of Maria, so often people in the family call Maria 'Masha,' which I like :)  My best friend's name is Anastasia, so I love that name too!  Natalya is also a really pretty name, so I think you've chosen well :)

If I was you, I would probably wait until your baby is born and then pick the name you feel suits her best...it doesn't matter so much what other people think of the name you choose, as long as you're happy with it and you think it suits your little girl :)  Wishing you all the best!!
