Personally, I am not religious. I can't stop thinking about what is out there.

  1. And don't forget how many stars there are in the Universe!

  2. IDK but I sure would like to shuttle off to mars and kick back with whatever micro organisms might be in the ice! woohoo! mars party!

  3. Nope...makes no difference at all...I did find it highly interesting that there was no flowing water on Mars. The only stuff they found was under the surface where it was sort of protected by the Martian soil from the high winds, temperature extremes, and solar radiation energy.

There is nothing wrong with studying space, the Universe, and the Solar system. In fact it is tremendously interesting if you go at it to any serious degree...

    Look at

Do a lot of hunting in and around the NASA sites. They have all kinds of information about the Space Station, Moon Flights, present Moon programs, and the Hubbel Telescope.

  4. Not really.  I expected it.  Ice is present all over the solar system.  So I would expect it to be prevalent in other solar systems as well.  Now does this mean life was likely on mars...  probably not.

But if you extrapolate that out to the entire universe.....  I would think odds are in favor of at least some other life forms surviving on other planets.

  5. I always kind of suspected there was water on Mars in the form of ice, for me the only thing that means is if i ever happen to be on Mars i can have a glass of water.

  6.   I think the reports of ice on mars is wishful thinking.

I'd like to see it happen but there never was or ever will be water on mars unless we take it there.

  7. I'm not sure what "opinion" about the universe you are refering to. If you are refering to the idea of life on other planets, moons, and asteroids then not really because I never doubted that there was. Most scientists believe that there is life on other planets. They do not, however, think that aliens from outer space have been coming to Earth.

  8. No. Although water is ONE of the prerequisites of life, there is an incredibly large number of factors which MUST exist before a planet or star or galaxy can allow life to develop much less survive long enough to evolve. Thinking about life on other planets is great as long as it is kept within proper perspective. Water is not by any means whatsoever a guarantee of the presence of life forms.

Water has been known to exist on Mars since 1998 probes.

Water is a very common molecule and is found on, inside, or in the atmosphere of every planet in our Solar System in solid, liquid, or gas form.

Hydrogen and oxygen are common elements. It is only natural that we should expect them to combine to form water.

As well as water found on the moons of the gas planets.

  9. Water is the most common compound in the Universe, made up of the first and third most common elements in the universe.  Why wouldn't it exist on Mars and in any other place that is not hotter than its boiling point? It does not change my view of the universe. It does not mean that life can or will start on Mars, since you need more that water, I don't know whether they have found any simple organic molecules.

  10. I also am intrigued about space.  No, it does not change my opinion about the universe.  I really expected that they would find it there.  We already know that ice water exists off the Earth because we know about comets. I think it's not surprising to find it on Mars.
