They are asking for information for a background check?

I am going for an interview tomorrow for an Executive Admin position. They emailed me some papers to fill out beforehand to speed up the process. They do background checks, but it states that it may include personal financial status and credit history (among other legit things). Now, I have nothing to hide, but why would they want to know my credit history and financial status? It is also asking for any other names I have used (which I assume is my maiden name) and my SS# and driver's license no.

  1. Credit history is part of a complete background check. Most employers check credit history before hiring to make sure they are working with a professional, responsible job candidate.

  2. Companies who want to know your financial and credit status want to know it's in good standings so that you aren't tempted to steal. And some companies believe that if you have had financial problems in the past then it is a reflection of your character.

They need to know your ss# and driver's license number to do a background check and make sure your not a convicted felon.

  3. For the job your going into they want to make sure you have no criminal history.  as for wanting to look at your credit report they want to make sure your not in debt.

There are people in the world who embezzle money to pay their debts.  they just want to make sure you don't have any of those type of problems.

Yes any name you have ever used first middle last that would include your maiden name.

Good Luck I hope you get the job!

  4. If you are in terrible financial shape you might be desperate enough to do something dishonest (i.e. pilfer money)  Also some businesses believe that your financial background is related to your character.  good luck.
