  1. if everything was matched correctly from the start you will over or under power your subs and/or get the in correct impedance (ohms), but it everything is not match correctly you may get it to be louder by dropping the impedance

you may also gain a little extra volume by adding thicker wires inside of the box (if they are not thick enough already)

here is a link to show you what different sub setups (dvc or svc, and 2,4,6, or 8ohm subs) will show (ohms) at the amp http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer...

you may also want to upgrade your power/ground wires, that helps also

  2. No it won't hit any harder.

All a rewire will do is change the final impedence of your subs.  If you change it, you could eiter be over powering your subs or underpowering your subs.  Whatever impedence you wire it to, that is what the amp will recognize and push a certain amount of power at that many ohms.

  3. First guy has no clue what he is talking about.  Basically it all matter on what ohm your subs are wired at now and what your amp can handle.  For an example i have 2 4 ohm subs which ni wired down to 1 ohm because my amp is 1 ohm stable and it hits way harder if say i had my subs at 4 or 2 ohms considerign the amp pushes more power as the ohms get lower.  So figure out what ohm your subs are at before you do anything and then go from there.
