Does that mean he is still alive? That is really exciting. How old would he be if he was still alive? WOuld he be dead?

  1. Nah, turned out to a much older parachute made of silk,  Coopers was nylon.  A mystery...inside an enigma, dead and wrapped in nylon parachute.  How naive and innocent it all sound now..

  2. If the parachute can be matched up to the type he used, then chances are, he did use that particular one. He was given a dummy chute and wasn't an experienced jumper. If he had been an experienced jumper, he would have noticed the dummy right away and demanded a real one. Another thing that pointed to his lack of experience was how he made a jump in total darkness without knowing anything about the local terrain. He might have survived the jump but got lost in the remote wilderness and probably died from exposure or an attack from a wild animal.

  3. They found A parachute. Whether it could have, in fact, belonged to DB Cooper or not, is still up in the air. No conclusions can really be drawn at this time. If he was still alive, he would be in his late 60's or early 70's.

  4. Of course, everyone would like to think this is Cooper's chute. It's nice to be able to conclude a mystery. But no one may ever know for sure. I don't know how it could ever be truly determined that this was indeed the chute of Cooper. Unless he had his name written on it somewhere. But as humans, it is our nature 'connect-the-dots' when it comes to mysteries like this one.

Curious just the same how the chute got there. When I was a kid, growing up in Arizona, my brothers and I went camping a lot. We used parachutes for tents. This was a trick we picked up from watching the range cowboys. (This was in their final days.) The advantage of the chutes was, they were cheap at surplus stores, they were very light weight, and water proof.
