Yes Katy, that guy was Irish.  I think the questioner is referring to Eric Liddle, the Scottish runner in "Chariots of Fire" who refused to run in hte Olympics because the race was on a Sunday, and he didn't want to run on the sabbath.  Did I cry....nah, not really, but if I was really into my religion like he was I might have done.
