Why did you leave this for the last minute lol?  Anyways, I don't know what you mean by American splits but I can help you out with "regular" splits lol.  Hold your splits for 3 minutes and squeeze your thighs together for 30 seconds and once you let go, you will go down farther.  You can also put 2 feet on 2 chairs and try and do the splits like that.  Take a bath before you try this, and make sure your very warmed up before you do the splits.  You won't be able to do them tomorrow (it's possible I guess, but it's like a 1 in a million chance lol)  Just try your hardest and I'm sure you'll make the team!!=)  Good luck!
