Thiago Machado Pereira clinches Men’s 400m IM gold – Jose Finkel Trophy
Thiago Machado Pereira of CORINTHIANS/ABDEM  clinched gold medal of the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on day two of the 2012 Jose Finkel Trophy in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Tuesday, August 21.
Pereira demonstrated his exhausting efforts in the eight-lap IM discipline as he overpowered his challengers in a comfortable manner. He experienced no resistance from his opponents and went home swelling with pride after securing gold medal of the race.
His laudable efforts remained prominently faster from his following swimmer as he touched the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 01.91 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was followed by his teammate, Thiago Teixeira Simon, who remained nearly eight seconds apart and finished his swim in second best place by producing a time of 4 minutes and 09.81 seconds.
The silver medallist was trailed by Henrique Rodrigues of FFC/RJ, who was almost two body lengths behind and grabbed third position of the race with an effort of 4 minutes and 11.68 seconds.
Rodrigues was chased by Renato Britto Barufi of CORINTHIANS/ABDEM, who was 1.17 seconds away from securing his place on the podium and ended his swim in fourth place by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 12.85 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was obtained by Giuliano Carer Rocco of FIAT/MINAS, who stayed almost eight seconds behind and concluded his race in a time of 4 minutes and 20.02 seconds.
Subsequently, Rocco remained half body length faster from Lucas Vinicius Oliveira Silva of UNISANTA, who occupied sixth fastest spot of the event by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 20.67 seconds.
Silva was chased by Diogo Oliveira Yabe of FIAT/MINAS, who remained 0.53 seconds behind and surfaced on the wall as seventh fastest swimmer with a timing of 4 minutes and 21.20 seconds.
Eighth spot of the event was gained by Gabriel Gassi Pedrao of UNISANTA, who was only 0.04 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 21.24 seconds.
Furthermore, Pereira won the hearts of crowd with his title claiming effort while he expressed happiness over his accomplishment after the session.
