Thiago Pereira clinches Men’s 200m IM gold – Swimming News
Thiago Pereira of Brazil clinched gold medal in the event of Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on concluding day of the 2013 French Open Nationals Championship in Vichy on Sunday, July 7.
Pereira devastated hopes of his opponents in the in the final round of the 200m discipline as he swam his way towards the finishing end for gold medal.
With his notable efforts, he managed to outperform his closest opponent over the finishing wall. He experienced tough competition from his following challenger in the four lap discipline, as he transpired on the finishing end for
the title.
He faced stiff competition from his closest swimmer in the initial lap, but with his astonishing form in the playoff, he managed to secure the gold medal of the event by producing a time of 1 minute and 57.48 seconds.
The champion was traced by Hungarian swimmer Laszlo Cseh, who was one and a half second behind and tapped the wall for second position by clocking a time of 1 minute and 58.92 seconds.
Third fastest spot of the event was secured by Australian swimmer, Daniel Tranter, who remained almost 1.41 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing wall for third position by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 22.25 seconds.
On the other hand, French swimmer, Camille Muffat captured gold medal of the Women’s 400m freestyle. She dictated terms to her competitors in the mediocre distant event and cruised his way towards the finishing end for first place.
Her notable effort placed her in a slight lead of just one inch ahead over his following swimmer as she won gold medal with an effort of 4 minutes and 04.09 seconds.
The second best finisher of the event was gained by Lauren Boyle of New Zealand, who remained 0.15 seconds apart and emerged on the wall for silver place with an effort of 4 minutes and 04.24 seconds.
Third position of the race was occupied by Coralie Balmy of France, who was prominently apart and posted an effort of 4 minutes and 08.78 seconds.
In addition, the winners collected medals and accolades at the prize ceremony after the race.
