Thiago Pereira seizes Men’s 200m IM gold: Day three - 2012 Sette Colli Meet, Italy
Thiago Pereira of Brazil seized gold medal of the Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on third day of the 2012 Sette Colli Meet in Rome, Italy on Saturday, June 16.
The Brazilian swimmer demonstrated his stupendous efforts in the 200m IM and upset his opponents by snaring gold medal of the discipline.
He showed no mercy to his opponents in the four-lap discipline and sprinted his way towards the finishing end for gold medal with the timing of 1 minute and 57.94 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Kosuke Hagino of Japan, who stayed almost 1.20 seconds apart and secured silver medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 1 minute and 59.11 seconds.
Third spot of the discipline was secured by Chad Le Clos of Republic of South Africa, who remained 0.92 seconds apart and sprinted his way towards the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 00.03 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Federico Turrini of Italy, who suffered a deficit of 0.86 seconds from his foregoing finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 00.89 seconds for fourth position.
Turrini was chased by Davide Cova of Italy, who was 1.40 seconds apart and cruised his way towards the finishing blockade with the timing of 2 minutes and 02.29 seconds for fifth position.
Subsequently, sixth spot of the event was secured by Simone Geni of Italy, who was 0.14 seconds apart and settled on the finishing blockade with an effort of 2 minutes and 02.43 seconds.
Geni enjoyed an advantage of nearly three seconds over Francesco Broglia of Italy, who managed to outperform his following swimmer and earned seventh position with the timing of 2 minutes and 05.08 seconds.
Eighth position of the discipline was secured by Marcin Tarczynski of Poland, who remained 0.16 seconds away and hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 05.24 seconds.
In addition, the championship ended after the conclusion of all scheduled events in Men and Women’s corner while Pereira expressed contentment over his victory in the 200m event after collecting his gold medal.
