Thiago Silva and Brandon Vera to collide in UFC on Fox 3 on May 15 – UFC news
The Ultimate Fighting Championship world will witness another epic episode, a sequel to the January 1, 2011, clash between the Brazilian Thiago Silva and American Brandon Vera. The bout is expected to take place on May 15, 2012.
Silva and Vera have known each other for a long time. The duo is extremely well versed in each other’s style of attack, defence, takedown, and submission tactics used. Silva and Vera previously have met in the octagonal ring in UFC’s pay-per-view UFC 125
which was headlined by a world lightweight championship bout between Edgar and Maynard.
According to the news, the bout has been organised after Thiago completed his one-year suspension which ended on January 1, 2012. Silva nailed and grabbed a unanimous win over Vera in their previous engagement. The decision was later on over ruled by the
Nevada (State) Athletic Commission (NSAC) on the positivity of Silva’s urine sample.
Since then, Silva had been out of the ring undergoing his suspension which was accompanied by a $20,000 fine. Now Silva is back and he is ready to take on someone and in order to make things interesting after the passage of a whole 11 month time period Silva
is to take on a man who got a broken nose as a souvenir from him.
Both men are an expert in Muay Thai and when it comes to stats the two brawlers are almost equivalent. Silva had been in a total 17 bouts and has come out victorious in a total 14. His sheer power lies in his powerful fists by using which he has collected
10 wins by knocking the opponent out cold.
Vera, infamous as The Truth, has entered the octagonal ring a total 18 times. He has won just 12 brawls and lost five. The aspect that makes this UFC 125 sequel is Vera’s nose. On January 1, 2011 during the bout held at Las Vegas, Nevada, Silva brutally
attacked and inflicted damage to Vera.
At one moment Silva started throwing hard punches by nailing Vera down so much so that Vera’s nose got broke. The injury was so fatal that Brandon had no option left but to stay out of the ring for almost 11 months. He made a successful winning return in
UFC 137 by unanimously wining over Eliot Marshall.
Silva on the other hand despite of his prior victory will have to work harder since he hasn’t experienced the ring for almost a year and has to get in shape in order to take on a rival who is willing to inflict maximum damage in order to make Thiago pay
for his sins. The bout is expected to take place on UFC on Fox 3 at Fairfax, Virginia.
