Thiago Silva: I am excited to make a comeback after 15 long months – UFC news
Thiago Silva, one of the best light heavyweights in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), while sharing his thoughts said that he is all charged up at making a comeback after the lapse of 15 long months adding that it was a tough time outside the octagon
since he loves to fight and hates to be away from it.
Silva is scheduled to make a comeback after completing his on-year suspension which was ordered by Nevada State Athletic Commission. Thiago is scheduled to take on Alexander Gustafsson in a non-title bout on UFC on Fuel TV2 and the octagon for the bout will
be stretched at Ericsson Globe Arena situated in Stockholm, Sweden.
Silva faced an almost career tarnishing controversy when he was alleged for using prohibited substances. On January 1, 2011, Thiago fought Brandon Vera and collected a unanimous decision win which made him eligible to bout Quinton Jackson for the light heavyweight
gold.
But during the post-bout medical urine evaluation, Silva’s samples confirmed the usage and thus presence of urine adulterant. Later on, Silva admitted his mistake and remarked that he used some banned injections on his spine and back to recuperate from an
injury and took the urine adulterant to hide the presence of those substances.
After being pleaded guilty, Silva was ordered a one-year suspension along with a fine of $20,000 from the win bonus and handing over of 25% of the purse amount. Thiago came back and was scheduled to take on Brandon Vera since he blabbered much about Silva
after the bout.
The bout, which was scheduled on May 15, 2012, was later on cancelled since Vera pulled out because of a thumb nail injury. After much deliberation Alexander will now take on Thiago in a three-round battle on April 14, 2012.
Silva during the interview commented, “I haven’t fought, but I didn’t stop [training]. I am 100 percent in full swing. I’m very excited; the anticipation is huge to fight again. I’m too hungry for a fight.”
Thiago continued and said that he is happy to be on the main card of the pay-per-view adding that Vera is nothing but a girl who is crying after taking a brutal beating. When asked to comment about whether Jon Jones is the best or Rashad Evans, Silva remarked,
“For me, Jon Jones is the guy to beat in the weight division. Rashad is a great fighter, but I don’t particularly like his style. I think he is limited and lacks the technique of Jones. He (Jones) will keep the belt.”
Thiago, 29, has been in a total 16 bouts and came out victorious in 14. He has collected a huge 11 wins by knocking the opponent out and is dubbed as a lethal knockout specialist.
