The AC Milan centre-back believes that the team will gravely feel the loss of the departing veterans: hails the 36-year-old as his mentor and a great man.

The veteran defender announced his decision to part company with the Rossoneri despite being offered a contract, while suggesting that the future could see him move to America’s Major League Soccer.
The 36-year-old led AC Milan’s defence line for more than a decade, and on announcing his departure from the club, identified the Brazilian as the natural heir to take over his responsibilities at the Milan outfit.
Thiago Silva stated that he is feeling a heavy responsibility on his shoulders, after the exit of the Italian defender, and insisted that it is difficult to fathom the veteran’s contribution to the Rossoneri.
The Diavolo defender reminded that previously he had the responsibility to fill in the shoes of Paolo Maldini, and stated that the added burden of Nesta’s exodus has made the challenge even more difficult for him.
While talking to the press, the 27-year-old said:
“Being here carries a great responsibility. Previously, I had the responsibility of being heir to Paolo Maldini because I took his place in the team and now there is another great player stopping in Nesta…It is sincerely difficult to describe a great champion
like him.”
The Brazilian extolled the departing centre-back stating that he is a great man, and revealed that the senior defender helped him a lot when they played together. He added that the veteran was also a great figure in dressing room, and increased the cohesiveness
of the team.
Thiago Silva went on to lend a few words on the other senior players, who are set to leave AC Milan at the end of the ongoing season.
