Thien How vows to elevate physical strength in next couple of months – Badminton News
Men’s Doubles expert Hoon Thien How of Malaysia is satisfied with his recent form but still he is ready to work out for better physical and mental strength in near future.
Thien How joins hands with Tan Wee Kiong and duo stands at 57th spot in World Rankings. They put a commendable show of skills in recently concluded international events, Indonesia and Singapore Open.
Now they are not scheduled to participate in any tournament in next couple of months and Thien How wants to utilise this opportunity to lift up his fitness.
The 25-year old shuttler is fully determined to undergo an intensive physical training programme to yield best results in future tournaments as well.
He said, “Wee Kiong and I are not one of the pairs selected to spar with the team for the Olympic Games. I will have about two months to seriously focus on my physical training programme.”
Both Malaysian campaigners rose to new heights in Indonesia Open as they powered their way to quarter-finals of the event.
They locked attentions by stunning top Indonesian couple Mohd Ahsan-Bona Septano on their way to round of eight.
Singapore Open also saw them putting great resistance against reigning Olympic Champion Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan in second round of the tournament.
Though, they lost but still they earned great deal of respect and admiration for their fighting spirit.
Thien How showed contentment over their performance in these tournaments and he looked confident to carry this rhythm also in coming international events.
He said, “Wee Kiong and I played reasonably well and showed good combination on court but I know that we can go even further.”
Moreover, he also admitted that his overweight creates problems some times as it affects his sharpness on the court.
He briefed that his supervisors have identified the root cause and he will leave no stone unturned to overcome these flaws.
The Malaysian pair is aiming high in this season as they have set their eyes on a spot in top 30 teams of the world and critics believe that if their recent form continues then they will find no trouble to achieve this goal.
