Thiery Henry returns to form, New York Red Bulls look to DC United game – Major League Soccer
An injury depleted New York Red Bulls took on San Jose Earthquakes last week but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thierry-Henry-c34918 turned out to be the saviour, as the home team hammered the visitors 3-0. The former French International stayed on the field from the start until the final whistle.
The 33-year-old was expected to miss this game. However, not only did he start the game, he also managed to get his name on the score sheet. The former Barcelona attacker produced his best performance for some time now as he also assisted Luke Rodger’s second
goal.
Good news continues to come for the Red Bulls as Henry was seen training with the reserves team on Monday. “The reaction from the Saturday game seems to be OK,” head coach Hans Backe said. “Seeing him on the pitch today means he’s OK.”
The coach was glad to see the player doing well. The Bulls are scheduled to hit the road for the capital city on Wednesday to face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/DC-United-c38901 at RFK Stadium – a game that will be televised nationwide - and the Frenchman seems to be up and running.
“Absolutely, he felt fresh,” Backe said, adding that the player will be a part of the starting eleven on April 21. “No problem with the Achilles.” The coach assured the fans.
After Henry picked up the chronic Achilles injury a couple of weeks ago, Backe decided to rest the former Arsenal skipper in order to get the striker back to hundred percent. However, the player recovered ahead of the schedule and played a starring role
in 3-0 victory over the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/San-Jose-Earthquakes-c40434 on Saturday, April 16, at Red Bull Arena.
Where Henry returned to the field last week, attacking midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joel-Lindpere-c18729 – nicknamed Iron man by his teammates – limped off the with a knee injury. MRI scans were run on the troubled knee but the results are yet to be made public. The player appeared
at the training session on Monday, though, he did not take part in the activity.
The coach is hopeful that Lindpere’s injury would not be of serious nature, as he wished for the player to be a part of the squad that is set to visit Washington DC. Provided the Estonian international clears the medical, the coach plans on starting the
29-year-old owing much to his physique and strong body play.
Canadian National team shot stopper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greg-Sutton-c15219, is the only player who would not be available to Hans Backe. Even though the Canadian international was at the training session with the rest of the goalkeeping squad, his status for Thursday’s fixture is
still uncertain. “He should be 100 percent OK,” Backe said. “Perhaps he needs more training sessions before playing.”
However, with the pace at which the custodian is recovering from the injury, he would be back with the squad sooner than later.
