Question:

Thin camera for rock concerts?

I'm looking for something that has an anti shake setting, a good zoom, and good video recording, including sound. It also has to fit in a pocket, or just be thin enough to hold without losing in a crowd, and be under $260.

Thanks.

  1. Your average point and shoot will not take good concert images. This is because concerts are normally dark, the subjects move around and the people around you may jostle you.

You'll want a camera that's fast. This means looking for models with a high ISO setting - at least 400, preferably 800 or 1600. Make sure that the images aren't unbearably noisy at those ISOs, however. Image stabilization (IS) is definitely a plus, and high optical (NOT digital) zoom.

As others have said, Canon and Nikon are good. They're known mostly for their SLRs, however, so don't hesitate to look at other brands.

With this said, I don't have a specific model in mind for you - sorry. I would advise looking for a camera with 10X or more optical zoom, though. I believe several brands, including Canon and Panasonic, make them.

  2. Better check and see if cameras are allowed...or risk having it confiscated.
