  1. That's great of you that you want to send something "real Aussie" to your penpal.

Well, I'm German and had been to Oz so many times. I love it being there. And my first "souvenir" I bought were "x*x mints" (the original ones) - Yummy!!!

Maybe your penpal would love to receive something made with macadamia nuts such a biscuits. I also love them or Tim Tams (not available at all over here, only in special Aussie shops where one pack costs a fortune, about 4 times that much). Or any biscuits made by Arnott's such as Anzac cookies or Tiny Teddy's. Vegemite is also good - if your penpal likes it.

BUT - and this is important - if you send any food please be sure if you are allowed to send! Germany didn't have these regulations before but when I returned home last time from Australia (in April this year) the pilot told us while taxi the aircraft on Frankfurt airport that no food was allowed to bring in. maybe this is a new law now. Please ask before you send food. If not possible think of any other gift to send.

  2. They don't have much peanut butter, but you could upgrade it and send her some almond butter or macademia nut butter.

Also, all-natural lotions and creams are super expensive there.  Lots of what they have is so chemical, which is odd considering they are rather earthy and green.  When i go there from USA I take some cool lotions we have in the health food stores.

  3. Hey, that's so sweet of you! I have a good friend in Australia and we send stuff to each other every now and then. There are some chocolate koala bears that Ilove (not sure about the name). She also sends books and magazines as English-language publications tend to be expensive over here. And some Australian authors I wouldn't have heard of anyway, so when she sends a book or audiobook it's also a pointer to find out more about the author. Oh, and I once got a Kasey Chambers CD.
