Things Needed in an Emergency Kit In Todays World In NY, USA?

Question

I've been wondering what I should have in my house in case of either a natural disaster, war, or terrorist/biohazard attack?

I'm, hoping its stuff for about 2-4 people, all adults..for injuries, i guess painkillers, gauze, If someone has a link to a company that sells this but that is quality stuff and not expensive or If i can make it myself...im in new york, do other things apply since this is a major city to be targetted in a war, terrorist attack etc?
