Things Oklahoma City Thunder should do to fend off the Memphis Grizzlies in game-7 (Part-2)
Watch the Turnovers by playing smart
The Memphis Grizzlies won the game-6 by forcing the Oklahoma City Thunder into 16 turnovers and also clamped their passing by allowing just 15 assists in the entire game. The Grizzlies were aggressive, agile and came out with a
strategy to complete the job convincingly.
The Oklahoma City needs to play smart and watch out for the turnovers in the Sunday’s decisive game. The first thing they need to do is to comprehend their game-plan and understand what to do and when to do. It’s not easy to overpower
an opponent when a team’s assist are less than its turnovers. Secondly, the contest will no longer be a physical game only. On Sunday night only that team will emerge victorious that holds its own when the heat is really on, especially down the stretch.
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook’s game-play
The Oklahoma City Thunder will be massively relying on their instrumental duo Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Both the players are incredibly dominant on both ends of the court and the Memphis Grizzlies are fully aware of that.
The Grizzlies will go all out to tame Thunder’s major scoring threats. This is where Durant and Westbrook’s game-plan will be tested in terms of their shot selection and shot distribution. The sharp-shooter Durant has been struggling
with the shot selection in the recent meetings and he needs to be more precise in that regard.
Russell, being a guard, needs to feed the ball to Kevin on the spots where he is more comfortable. As witnessed during the last game, Durant rarely found the space. But, when he did, the ball was in somebody else’s hand. If Westbrook
succeeds in facilitating Durant, and keeps his own scoring efficiency intact as well,
the Thunder have a strong chance to end up as winners.
Kevin realized that he wasn’t at his best in the last game which will make him to improve in game-7.
"It was frustrating to go out there and prepare so hard and not play as hard as I wanted to. But I have to stay positive. My teammates always encourage me, so I feel good about that. I just have to get back to work tomorrow. It's
going to be a tough Game 7 at our place, so I'm looking forward to it. Kevin said.
Match the efforts of the opposition
The inexperienced Memphis Grizzlies have overcome all odds so far because they play as a team. After shocking the San Antonio Spurs in the first round, they have showed great commitment in the semi-finals and that too against a
team with the best scoring talent on offer. Grizzlies will set foot on the court with the same determination on Sunday night and toppling them will be a tall order. Only one thing can lift Oklahoma City Thunder on the night and that is to match the determination
level that the Memphis Grizzlies have shown.
