  1. Queensland is very big. Maybe you can ask the question again and let us know what part you are going to. The GoldCoast is fabulous. A 40 kilometre stretch of beaches. so you have many areas to choose from . There are the Theme parks Wet'n wild is fun. there is the Hinterland and many National parks. If you want to go to Australia Zoo it's a long day from the Gold Coast. You are better to stay at Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast. it's very nice around Caloundra and Mooloolaba. Or if you are on the GoldCoast you can visit The Currumbin wildlife sanctuary. Or take a boat trip over to stradbroke island. or go surfing. You can have lessons here if you don't Surf and then there are some super shopping centres pacific Fair and Harbour Town. Have fun.

  2. I've put some websites on for you to peruse - they should give you some decent ideas.

The main cities are generally nice enough, but for the most part they should be used as bases to other places.  Although this depends on what you want to do, if you want to "party, party, party" for example then Brisbane or the Gold Coast may be the place to go.

Surfers Paradise is a tourist strip.  Go to the southern end of the Gold Coast - it's less touristy but you still get the beaches and stuff.

  3. Dream World Theme Park

    Gold Coast

    townsville

  4. That really depends on where you're staying, but I'll assume you can travel anywhere along the coast.

Brisbane is nothing special, it's a standard city. Surfer's Paradise has become too commercialised and it's both expensive and boring. The Gold Coast is still okay, and it has a few theme parks that are all fun but nothing compared to theme parks in the Northern Hemisphere.

Head further north than the south east and you'll find beautiful places that provide services to tourists, but without the concrete jungles and expensive shops. Mackay, Maryburough, and further north Cairns, just to name a few. I strongly suggest you head north of SEQ, because then you can see the rainforests and they are magnificent.

To sum up, Queensland is worth seeing for it's natural beauty, not it's cities and towns. Stay on the coast, but north of Brisbane, SEQ and basically north of the sub-tropical areas. Stick to the tropical places.

Just remember; south east Queensland (SEQ) is where the residents of Queensland live their boring lives and do day-to-day things, and the coast north of Brisbane is where tourists go to appreciate some of Australia's natural beauty.

Sorry to disagree with the person above, but DO NOT go to Townsville. If you're catching the ferry to Magnetic Island, sure, but don't stay in town. It's population is mostly aboriginal, and they're not as friendly in real life as they appear in advertisments, believe me. They'll abuse you when you walk down the street. I wasn't physically attacked because I'm a guy and they're cowards, but if you and your friends are girls they might.

  5. Go to the far north, do some diving on the Great Barrier Reef (go from Cairns, its a shorter boat trip from there), have a look at Atherton Tablelands, take a trip to Green Island (from Cairns), go to Kuranda on the train, see the Daintree. In Townsville, visit the Aquarium, go to Magnetic Island. Go on a day trip to Paluma, go on a day trip to a deserted Gold Rush Town at Ravenswood.
