The Inter Milan head coach reiterated that when things went bad, everything went bad; and distanced himself from making any assertions that would mislead the fans.
It has been a season to forget for the Nerazzurri and they are in danger of slipping below the seventh place of the Serie A table with Catania surging up the table.
Ranieri’s men recently turned the tide of not registering a victory in nine consecutive matches; however the damage done by that winless streak is too big with recovery an uphill battle. Before their loss
in fortunes, Inter were in a healthy position, having won 7 matches on the trot. However, that seems to be the only highlight in an otherwise abysmal season.
The Nerazzurri failed in their attempts to climb up the table after they were held to a goalless draw at the San Siro. The Beneamata tactician felt hard done by their inability to convert their hard work
into victories. Commenting on the commitment of the players during the match, Ranieri was of the opinion:
“I can’t ask for any more from the lads, as we knew in the second half we’d suffer the fatigue from the Champions League game midweek.”
He also praised the Atalanta side stating that they were a tough nut to crack and his side did well to close spaces available to them. He also distanced himself from making any statements about the future,
remarking that they will be taking each match as it comes and do not want to state unrealistic expectations to their fans.
During his post-match interview he further commented:
“Atalanta clam up and go on the counter, we did well to allow them nothing for 80-odd minutes. We missed a penalty, which we could’ve done without, but now we have to continue planning for the next game.
We have to take it one match at a time without taking our fans for a ride by stating objectives. The group is very united.”

of the season.
