Things get from bad to worse at Liverpool once again
Liverpool are now heading into the New Year, having lost to a team that was considered to be the worst team in the league based on statistical performances. At the exact same time two years ago, Liverpool had managed to accumulate a whopping forty five points
from just twenty games. However, the team is going to be playing their first game of the New Year having collected only twenty two points so far this season and are currently sitting in the twelfth spot in the league table.
Things managed to reach an all time low for the team, that was performing ever so poorly so far this season. The team took on a Wolverhampton Wanderers side that had managed to collect only one point from their previous eight meetings. However the team managed
to stun everyone as they went on to beat Liverpool at home, by a score line of one goal to nil – this defeat was now Liverpool’s eighth of the season and thing’s are currently not looking to get better anytime soon.
Had Liverpool given the Wolves a tough time on the pitch, then perhaps the defeat could have been a little less harsh on the team. However, that was not the case on the night. Wolves dominated the game from the very first minute to the end of the ninetieth
and during the course of the game, Liverpool were being outplayed and out muscled.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 this time, since the Liverpool captain made his much awaited return for the first time in six weeks.
Following the loss, the Liverpool manager was reported to have said, "The fans have left angry and that's understandable"
“However, it would be dangerous to clear a lot of players out on the basis of one game. We wanted our renaissance to start today but it hasn't happened. Panic would be the wrong thing to do but I'm not the sole arbiter of that."
This loss for Liverpool at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 was the first time the team lost at home to the team in over twenty six years. That season Liverpool went on to lift the English title and even the European Cup, with Wolves getting relegated at the end of the
season.
However, if Roy Hodgson is hoping for a dramatic turn of events in the team’s season, then the manager is clearly delusional. This is because the team currently has no depth in their squad and even when they are operating at full strength, they seem to be
one of the poorest teams on display.
The team and specially the manager really need to get their act together soon. If the team doesn’t start to perform to their true potential, they could be well on their way down to the relegation zone.
This might come as a shock to most, but it is something that no one will deny from being a possibility.
What Liverpool need to do is quite simple; firstly they need to make a few good signings to try and stabilize the team and secondly they need to find a new manager. Hodgson has been given more than enough time to prove himself and so far he has been nothing
but a failure.
The team's owners need to take that into account and quite possibly start looking for a new manager, along with a handful of players during the winter break. If they don’t do that, then there seems to be no hope of recovery for the team, at least in the
near future.
