  1. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act employers are expected to make reasonable accommodations, for special needs employees.

  2. That would depend on the disability.  It could be things as placement of furniture or widths of aisles and walkways for wheelchair users, TTY devices for the deaf, ramps for entrances/exits, accessible bathrooms

  3. I live in New Jersey, USA.

The Americans with Disabilities Act and the NJ Laws against Discrimination are useless.  The government refuses to investigate complaints--they try ignoring you-they allow the offending party to just say they did nothing wrong and then close the case despite concrete evidence.

It has been suggested that the investigators with the government who are ethnic minorities don't want to bother with disability discrimination (unless the disabled person is also African American)

Private lawyers are expensive and don't want to take cases pro bono or on contingency-

It is open season on people with disabilities in NJ

  4. Be sensitive to their needs while remembering they are just like everyone else and treating them as such.

If someone has a physical need, be sure to ask if they would like assistance before acting - unless it is a dangerous situation.

If they are deaf/hard of hearing, speak normally and be sure that they can see your face.

Do not touch or pet any assistive dogs.
