I have a place to board it, and my trainer is going to help me find the right one. I need to know what items (blanket, bridle, bit ect.) the horse will need just to have a list. Also what should I have in the first-aid kit for me and the horse. I know about all the expences (vet, board, farrier, feed, lessons ect.) I ride english. I am planing on eventing and showing hunters with the horse. I jump 2'9.

  3. Congrats!! :)

Halters, Lead lines, bridles, bits, reins, Breast collars, saddle, saddle pad, girth, brushes of all sorts [you should know xD] mane combs are life savers, fly repellant is nice for him, if you plan to lunge him, things for that..I assume you have boots, spurs, crops, riding helmet, jodphurs, etc, blankets, boots for him, pull guards for trailer travel, joint protection, off the top of my head...

  4. for eventers (riding):

    - saddle for x-country, and showjumping

    - saddle for dressage

    - bridle (1 or 2, for dressage & jumping, usually 2 different bits)

    - jumping/ cross country boots

    - saddle pads (dressage pad, all purpose pad)

    - some kind of wither pad, liftback pad, etc.

    - bits

    - a breastcollar or martingale

    - reins (most bridles don't include reins)

    - bell boots (for cross country)

    - a girth

    - stirrups

    other stuff:

    - blankets (winter blanket, stable blanket, turnout sheet, and cotton dress sheet)

    - leadrope

    - halter (sometimes a back up if one is broken)

    - polo wraps

    - lunge line

    - lunge whip

    - tack trunk

    - grooming box/tote (with brushes, hoof pick, etc)

    - show sheen (for detangler)

    - fly spray

    - fly mask

    - shipping boots

    - liniment

for a first aid kit (just keep basics in their for emergency), you can usually find horse first aid kits through places like Dover Saddlery, if you want your own, include these:

    - iodine or betadine (cleans wounds), i would get the scrub so it doesnt stain

    - vet wrap

    - bandages

    - bandage scissors

    - bute

    - poltice

make sure to pick up a crop to and some spurs, you'll always need them

=] oh and if you're going to event, get an event vest (its a requirement) like a tiperary.
