Things "blew up" on my first day of my new major. No cussing, but some smart remarks and some bitterness ?

to the dean, the ad visor, and smart azz comments about the secratary I gave to the dean in a bit of a tantrum that wasn't to huge.

These people are heartless monsters. They are sick of my e-mails, sick of my calls, sick of me. This is what I was told.

I dropped the major, and picked something else, and got another advisor. I also changed all of my classes but one.

I recieved two phone messeges from the dean of students wanting to talk to me. What will happen when I call tomorrow? Is it over? I didn't cuss, or yell.

  1. Just tell your dean he's one load his mother should of swallowed.

If he says "beg your pardon" ask him why he feels the need to eat the bones in your pancakes.

  2. I wouldn't suggest you tell the dean you were just having a bad morning.  That excuse is flip and unacceptable.  It sounds like you've been a huge pain in the butt to these people...it takes quite a lot to make grown people say what they said to you.  Maybe you should grow up and act your age...changing all of your coursework and your major because of a confrontation with an adviser doesn't make you look like a very dedicated student.  How can they possibly give a future employer a good report on you if they are ever asked.  This isn't high school anymore bub...these people don't have to care if you succeed or not...it's all up to you now.

  3. Ehhhh....maybe you just should find a better school....

I mean changing a major usually isn't all to big of a deal so why were they difficult about it in the first place?

  4. maybe you should get a copy of all of the rules and regulations, and see if they were right to attack you back like that...you can forgive them...call and find out, ignoring it, isn't going to make it better or go away...I feel, things are gonig to be fine..

  5. that was rather unprofessional of them, regardless of you whatever you may have said.

personally, i like to cover my *** by knowing all policies and procedures for whatever it is that i am doing. if you're thinking you might be dismissed from the institution, you may want to look up the policies regarding dismissal.

otherwise, if i were you, i'd bite the bullet and call in the morning and try to schedule a face-to-face to talk about your situation.

  6. Wow.  Tell the dean you were having a bad day and let it go.

  7. I have a hard time believing that your college really gives a hoot what you major in.  Students change majors all the time.

The way I see it, you have two options.  You can act like a grown up, listen to what they have to say, learn from them, acknowledge your mistake, apologize, and promise to do better.  Or you can be a child and whine about the unfairness of it all or try to rationalize it by saying that you were in a bad mood.

This isn't high school, darlin'.  No one cares about what kind of mood you're in and no one puts up with juvenile behavior.  You are expected to act like an adult and treat other people professionally at all times.

If you think college is demanding, wait until you have a job.  They'll fire your "smart azz" in a heartbeat.

  8. I think you are going to be called on the carpet for immature and

foolish behavior. From the sounds of things you need to be sent

to the naughty chair big time. I don't know what you have been up to

but I doubt very much ALL of these people are heartless monsters.

I would spend tonight thinking over how you might have behaved in

a more mature fashion and how you are going to apologize. They might be putting you on notice any similar behavior and you are

    out the door.
