Things that the Western Conference Finalists need to do to ensure that they win (Part 4)

We continue to discuss problems that Canucks needs to improve on if it wants to be a threat to San Jose Sharks in the upcoming games in the Western Conference Finals’ series.
Canucks had several chances to score goals during the first game but it wasn’t able to take advantage of the chances and in the end won the game by a slender one goal lead.
If it continues to do this then things might become hard for Canucks as Sharks is a very good team and has the capability of scoring late goals.
Although Sharks has been struggling in the final period of the last five games, it should be kept in mind that it has many talented players in the line-up who have the potential of scoring against any defence and at any time.
This is one of the reasons as to why Canucks need to improve when it comes to the power-plays.
Canucks is not any magical team who is expected to score each and every time it goes on attacks.
One thing that has amazed experts is that it is very strong on attacks when it comes to offence during normal time but it’s unable to keep the same fire-power when it comes to attacking during the power-plays.
Even though it isn’t being pressurised to score a goal each time it goes on attacks, experts suggest that it should at least pose a threat to the opposing goal each time it goes on the attack during power-plays.
It should be kept in mind that power-plays are a very important part of the game and can be the provider of game changing moments.
This certainly proved to be the case as Canucks won the first game of the Conference Finals as a result of Henrik Sedin’s goal, scored during a power-play.
This came after a very disappointing and dry play in the first three power-plays.
Canucks failed to register a shot on goal during the first three power-plays that came its way. All the first three power-plays came in the opening 24 minutes of the game but still it was unable to find the back of the net.
Sharks didn’t do much and there was a lack in the strength of offence during the power-plays which was the reason for no goals being scored.
The reason as to why we identify this as a problem is due to the fact that it held the record in the league when it came to power-plays during the regular season.
"I think we have enough options that whatever the other team is doing, we have an answer for that", Canucks’ defenseman, Christian Ehrhoff, said when asked about the power-play situation.
