I know recruiters are not as bad as most people say they are but while some may not lie, they don't always tell you everything. What are some things that a recruiter never tells you about? What are the things the recruiter never told you?

  1. My recruiter was a man who told the truth. However, there was one thing that the Navy didn't tell me about. I was transferred to Hospital Corps School at Great Lakes from an assignment as leading seaman on a Destroyer Escort. What they didn't tell me about that rate I learned when I got to Great Lakes. The walls of the student lounge were festooned with photos of Hospital Corpsmen who had all been awarded the Medal of Honor (posthumously). And everyone of them was in a Marine Corps uniform. Until that point I never knew that Corpsmen served with the Marines.

  2. One thing I've never heard a recruiter say (and that you should not ask them) is whether or not they killed someone while overseas or if they've ever seen anyone die. When kids do ask them they tend to just ignore the question - its usually not something they want to talk about.

They will tell you about what being stationed overseas is like including the pros and cons if you ask.

  3. He told me that with my criminal past that I wasen't gonna last my whole contract in...well 6 years later as staff sergeant i would have to say he was wrong. They will judge you but hey man I got buddies who are recruiters you gotta cut them a break. The pressures that they are under is no joke. They get in some serious trouble if they don't meet quota. The guys just trying to make his paycheck. Hes got afamilyy too. Plus nobody in their right mind in the Armyat leastt ever "wants" to be a recruiter. h**l i came down on orders for it 2 times.......Thanks Branch

  4. As a recruiter I can't tell someone everything. It's not that I don't want to or trying to hide something. It's just too much info to cover I'd be talking for days on end. I tell my applicants my Army story and cover six areas. These areas are Training, Education, Adventure, Money, Service to Country, and Travel. My applicants develop questions during this time and I graceously answer each one. I have no problem tackling the tough questions as long they are asked. I can't remember everything. Good luck.

  5. I believe most recruiters would make great used cars salesmen.  They could sell that 1972 ford pinto.  Yes the one that if it is rear ended could explode!.  And get 5000 dollars for it.  Why anyone would want a career in the military is beyond me.  Anyone with a clue can tell its false advertising.

  6. My recruiter answered all questions honestly.  If we didn't ask about it, he didn't give an answer, which is hardly dishonest.

  7. He never told me that when my unit goes on an FTX, I would be sleeping in the same tent with guys (all sections slept togther whether they were female and male alike) later this was changed so that the women all got their own tent. My recruitor did not tell me I would be living in the barracks for six months in Panama, while I waited to get housing for my kids. My active duty recruitor never told me I could go reserves because my ASVAD score was too low for active duty, the reserve recruitor had to tell me this, that I could go reserves, serve six months and then go active duty.

  8. This is the question I ask.  When you listen to your recruiter do you listen to everything he says, or just the things you want to hear???

  9. This link has ALL of the information that recruiters may or may not tell you. Good Luck and 10 points please.

  10. My recruiter was actually pretty honest and helped me to get the job I wanted.  I waited 8 months for this job.  He told me not to go in Open General, that I would go into Security Forces.  He was right.  There were 12 girls in my flight that went in Open General, and 10 of them are cops.
