Things to do and day trips from Puerto Vallarta?

We will be going into Puerto Vallarta in Septemeber. We've heard good things about canopy tours and snorkeling. Does anyone have recommendations for locations and companies to snorkel and do canopy tours. Also any recommendations for restaurants and other places to visit that are a day trip or less. Lastly, there are sea turtles released from hatcheries during this time. Does anyone know how we can get involved with these programs? Thanks so much!!

Check out the website below, he has some good ideas, except he misspelled Mismaloya.  Yelapa is an interesting trip.

Do some shopping on the island in the river Cual.

Eat the comida corrida (big lunch) and take a siesta after wards.

If you've never been to a Mexican supermarket, check out Gigante Supermercado--their supermarkets are like ours but they're different too.

If you wan to learn surfing, go up to Sayulita (about 40 minutes north)--they have a nice break, and shops to rent you a board and give you lessons.

my frind, there are 1001 things to don in Vallarta

once your here you can go straight to the diferent places for diving or snorkeling, or canopy no reservations needed, september is not as busy as spring or summer, so theres plenty of time, I know people where you can go for the release of the turtles and volunteer for a day, there are atv's tours, as soon as you get here I'll get you a free full restaurante guide and maps. I do sales in the local YAMAHA dealer, for hotels is better to reserve with anticipations, what kind of hotel you need let me know (all inluded, just a clean and nice bed) 5-4-3 stars [e-mail].

A couple more good websites http://www.vallarta-adventures.com and http://www.puertovallarta.net . I highly reccommend the San Blas swamp tour and snorkling at Islas Marietas. Will be there in nov. Can't wait. Tis is our 8th trip to P.V.
