I'm in NY my husband is in KY (He's getting ready to deploy) and we decided to meet halfway between us for a romantic weekend, the last time I'll see him for at least a year. What is there to do in Akron, Ohio? Arcades, Movies, carnivals prolly around the time of August15th through the 20th if anyone can help that would be awesome!

  1. The Carousel Dinner theater is a true hidden gem. The place is amazing.

Stan Hywet Hall is beautiful mansion turned into a museum, and the gardens surrounding it are equally worth seeing.

I think the Art museum is free, plus its recently been remodeled/ upgraded.

If you like sports the Akron Aeros stadium is downtown

As is the National Inventors Hall of Fame

A smaller house worth seeing is the Hower House over by the University.

I forgot to mention, there's almost always something going on at lock 3. Typically outdoor concerts, some festivals.

and likewise the riverfront in cuyahoga falls (10-15 minutes away) hosts a lot of events

  2. There is a large mall, Easton, which has a movie theatre, nicer places to dine, and of course shopping, but there are some really nice hotels nearby as well.  There's also the Columbus zoo, supposed to be one of the best in the Country, not sure though and not sure that's what you guys want to do.  But those are a few suggestions.  Easton Mall is really nice, more upscale, but still affordable.

  3. Drive a half hour north to Cleveland.  There are theaters, pro sports teams, the lake, and museums.  The restaurants are great too.

  4. Carousel Dinner Theater is there.  We've had season tickets for years and enjoy it.  You might enjoy an evening or matinee there seeing Viaggio.  It's not one of their typical performance but is very entertaining, like Circe de Sol.  When you look down the hill from the main entrance, there's an Army center.  I saw some troops come home once and got to see part of their ceremony.  It was almost better than the theatre show that day!

Good luck to your husband overseas and thank you to you both for his service to our country.
