Question:

Things to do in Memphis?

Taking a vacation in late September to the Memphis area. Besides Graceland and Beale Street, what else is there to do in Memphis? I am also told that there are a number of old record companies set up as museums to visit. I love rock and the blues, so I thought Memphis would be a good place to go to enjoy some good music.

I am also bringing my bike along. It makes it a lot easier to go from place to place without trying to find parking or walking 3 miles. How is the city set up for getting around on a bike?

I'm planning on spending 3 or 4 days there, so if I can find a thing or two to fill each day, that would be great.

Any suggestions or "reviews" would be great.

Thanks.

  1. You've got to go to Mud Island.  It was featured years ago in the movie "The Firm" with Tom Cruise.  It has a monorail, riverboat, and you can even bike there.  Take a tour of the Pyramid too.  Very cool place. You also must go to the Peabody Hotel and see their duck march.  I went there years ago and they're so cute!  They come down from their suite at 11:00 a.m. and go back up at 5:00 p.m.  There's also Alex Haley House and Museum, Memphis Zoo, Memphis Botanical Gardens.

  2. Drive south to Tunica, Ms. and gamble all of your money away.  That's really a lot of fun.

  3. walkin in memphis ;)
