  1. That's exactly right -  this year (2008), Quebec City is celebrating its 400th anniversary so if you want to be where the action is, so to speak, head for this fascinating and historical town filled with old world charm.

Unlike Montreal (except maybe for the Old Port), Quebec City has managed to maintain and hold on to its glorious past, somehow.

See, admire and witness all that for yourself once you get there in 2 1/2 weeks dear!

Have a great time in Quebec City with your aunt!

P.S. Are you staying at Chateau Frontenac by any chance? Also, La Grande Allée is the best place to hang out in town apparently - or so I heard.

  2. Visit the old city, it's full of gorgeous architecture, old fortifications and there's a long walkway right by the river.  Watch out for the shops though, they're all tourist traps.

You can also visit the National Assembly, I mean if you're into fat politicians arguing back and forth.  It can be funny, so I heard.

Check out the Musée de la Civilisation, although as far as I'm concerned it's kind of corporatized.

Go out to the Dagobert if you want, it's a nice building and a typical danceclub inside -- but your aunt might not relish that thought.

For good eating, there's a restaurant that serves swiss fondue and variations, although I can't remember the name.  It's really good.

Or, if you're willing to put up with a monstrous stomach ache for a couple of days, go to Ashton and order a poutine.

All of these things are within walking distance.

  3. All of the above plus Find a restaurant and/or roadside stand and

    Try some Poutine

    Have some tortiere

Be sure to do Tim Hortons

Looking for a good restaurant - not fast food - try Le Laurie-Raphaël

Plus you can see our own Celine Dion and a ton of special things to celebrate the 400th Birthday

  5. I visited many years ago. What I remember is the Plains of Abraham and the Citadel.

Also remember happily expecting a hamburger only to have is served up cut in half with gravy all over it.

If I wanted to practice french then I would go to Tahiti.

  6. All of the above

but beware, if you are not used to Quebec french, it might be very hard for you to understand. One of my friends was from Paris and even she had a hard time understanding some people. But pretty much everyone speaks english anyway.

  7. If you want to spend a day at an amazing water park go to La Village des Vacances in valcartier

its very fun i was there last summer!
