I'm doing a tour in Italy next week and we have one free day in Rome, but the tour shows us around Rome the day before. So maybe something more authentic where there wont be so many tourists. Ive never been before, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. =]

  1. Hey!,I' m from Rome....and there's a place that not too many tourists know i love....it's one of our "hills" (u know the seven hills...etc) from which u have a wonderful view of Rome form above....It's called "gianicolo" (try to google it to see some picts) it's really lovely!....i think u should try going there.... :)

  2. Coliseum, Vatican (St. Peter's, Sistine Chapel) Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, The Forum, Hadrian's Castle

  3. Go to Villa Borghese, Capitoline Hill, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain. There is something to see on every corner, literally.

  4. traditional sights are: Colosseum, Roman Forum (Ancient Rome) - S. Peter's cathedral and palace (where the pope lives) - but....

    An authentic place is...

    1) A romantic walk along the Appian Way (the original road built by the Romans, with green areas and no cars (you can hire a bike)

    2) If you like medieval castle there's St. Angel castle, just near St. Peter's square.

    3) walking around Trastevere is nice if you like shopping and nice picturesque restaurants and pizzerias. It's Rome but it seems to be in a little town. Interesting for the nightlife.

  5. What about Coppedè Quarter?

  6. I just got back from a Mediterranean cruise where I spent a day in Rome. I saw the Coliseum, St. Peter's Basilica, and a portion of the Vatican museums. Those were all big tourist spots, of course, but the most breath-taking and inspiring of them all was  the Sistine Chapel. I very highly recommend seeing this site, especially if you never plan on returning to Rome. I went during the afternoon on a Tuesday and was surprised to see that it wasn't very crowded. You must buy admission to the Vatican museum to get in. Hope you find what you are looking for!

  7. This might not be the answer you are looking for but while youre there you have to try a Magnum Ice Cream Bar!!!!

They are kinda like a Dove bar but a million times better....You'll see signs for them at various places and they are made by good humor but you cant get them in the states.... I swear it will be the best ice cream bar ever!!!!
